'Tradition Can't Be Used To Discriminate': Madras High Court On Caste Bias Against Devotees
Chennai, Tamil Nadu: While hearing allegations of caste-based discrimination against devotees at the Arulmigu Devaraja Swamy Temple in Kanchipuram, the Madras High Court recently ruled that traditions cannot be used to discriminate against worshipers.
Stating that god does not discriminate against his creators, the court clarified that there is no room for discrimination in temples. The court was hearing allegations that non-Brahmin devotees were being treated differently at the temple. A Bench of Justices G Jayachandran and E Manoharan emphasised all living beings are equal and God does not discriminate.

To elaborate, the court also referred to a verse from the Bhagavad Gita stating that God is equally disposed towards all living beings and is neither partial to nor hateful of anyone.
