Chennai, Tamil Nadu: The Madras High Court recently directed the Tamil Nadu Police to release DMK leader and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on station bail.

The order was issued hours after the DMK leader was taken into custody over his alleged offensive remark against actor Trisha. The DMK had moved the high court against the police action against Udhayanidhi. However, the court has now directed the police to release him today itself after the questioning.

Appearing for Udhayanidhi, advocate Vijay Narayan told the Court that the State does not intend to keep Stalin in custody and that he was detained only in interest of women. The court was hearing the anticipatory bail plea.
