'Make Videos On Govt Schemes, Earn Rs 1 Lakh': Bihar's Influencer Incentive Policy Sparks Row

Patna, Bihar: Bihar government on Wednesday launched an influencer incentive scheme offering up to Rs 1 lakh for promotional videos on Bihar Government schemes. The scheme, approved by state Cabinet on August 19, offers a maximum amount payable for a single video Rs 1 lakh.

Cleared by the state Cabinet on Wednesday, the scheme makes social media influencers and other online content creators eligible for additional payments based on the views generated by their videos – an additional Rs 10,000 payable for every 1 lakh views after completion of 30 days of performance.

Notably, the scheme has sparked controversy over alleged wastage of taxpayers’ money. Netizens sarcastically pointed out that the scheme is only for those influencers who are in the government’s good books.

If a video praising the Bihar government receives 100,000 views, the government will give that social media influencer 10,000 rupees.
