Massive Fire At Bihar Hospital ICU Kills 4 Patients, Several Others Injured
Patna: At least four patients lost their lives, and several others were injured after a massive fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district during the early hours of Thursday.
The tragic incident occurred at Prasad Hospital in the Brahmpura area of Muzaffarpur, triggering panic among patients, attendants and hospital staff.
According to officials, the fire erupted around 3:55 a.m. on the fifth floor of the hospital, where the ICU is located. At the time of the incident, 24 patients were admitted to the hospital, including 13 in the ICU.

Fire department personnel rushed to the spot after receiving an emergency call and launched rescue operations immediately.
Authorities said around 15 people were evacuated from the ICU, while other patients were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Firefighters later managed to bring the blaze under control.
Preliminary reports suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause will be determined after a detailed investigation.

Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen told The Hindu that statements from family members of the patients have been recorded and a probe has been ordered into the incident. Officials fear the death toll could rise as some of the injured remain in critical condition.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the tragedy and announced an ex gratia compensation of ₹4 lakh for the families of each victim. State Health Minister Nishant Kumar has also sought a detailed report on the incident.
Senior district officials continue to monitor the situation as investigations into the cause of the deadly hospital fire get underway.
