The Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case accused, Mihir Shah, allegedly used a fake identity card to show that he was 27 to enter a pub while his actual age is 23. Notably, a person needs to be at least 25- years-old to consume strong beer, whiskey, vodka, rum or any liquor involving higher levels of alcohol content in Maharashtra.

The accident reportedly happened on Mihir Shah’s way back from the pub where he along with friends celebrated a party. The accused admitted driving luxury car following his arrest yesterday after a three-day chase. The pub management alleged the faking of the accused’s identity as three of his friends who partied with him were over 30 years old.

Kaveri Nakva and her husband Pradik Nakva were on a two-wheeler when the BMW driven by the accused, the son of sacked Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Rajesh Shah, rammed their scooty, leading to the killing of the woman. After hitting the two-wheeler, the car still in accelerated mode, dragged the woman up to 1.5 kilometers. According to the police, Mihir Shah was very much aware that the woman was stuck in one of the tyres of his car, but still, he drove recklessly despite the passing vehicles signalled and shouting, asking him to stop, the Hindustan Times reported citing police.

After admitting driving, Mihir Shah claimed that he has a driving license, and the police are yet to recover documents, according to reports. He also said that he fled the site fearing public assault.

The police have claimed that Mihir Shah has tried to mislead them by trimming his hair and shaving his beard. They also alleged that the car’s number plate was removed after the accident, stating that the cops seized the actual number plate of the BMW. The police are now checking whether his friends helped him destroy the evidence examining the call history of the accused.
