A speeding BMW hit a couple on a two-wheeler in Mumbai‘s Worli this morning which has resulted in the death of a woman. As per the police, the car was driven by a 24-year-old, son of a senior leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
The car belongs to the deputy leader of the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. As per the police report, Mihir Shah drank at a bar last night. He has asked his driver to take him for a long drive on his way back home. Later, Mihir insisted on driving. Soon after he took the wheel, the BMW hit a scooter.

The couple on the motorcycle were residents of Worli’s Koliwada area. When they were back on their way back from fetching fish, they were hit by the BMW. The two were thrown into the air and crashed on the bonnet of the SUV. As the car kept speeding, Kaveri Nakva was run over. Her husband Pardik, has suffered minor injuries.
Kaveri’s husband managed to jump off the vehicle’s bonnet. However, the woman succumbed to injuries.
The police investigation has found that there were attempts to destroy evidence. The car’s windshield has a Shiv Sena sticker. This was scratched to erase the link with the Sena leader. The car’s number plate was also removed.
Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena Leader Eknath Shinde has termed the incident “unfortunate” and assured action. “Law will take its own course, everyone is equal before the law. I have spoken to the police and strict action will be taken,” he said.

This accident has occurred amid ongoing investigations in the Pune Porsche case in which two software engineers were killed after a juvenile under the influence of alcohol hit a bike.
