Muslim Personal Law Board Postpones Scheduled Nationwide Bandh Against Waqf Act 2025

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has postponed the nationwide Bandh scheduled for October 3, Friday. The board, last month, announced the protest strike.

The board declared The Save Waqf, Save Constitution initiative as a peaceful protest against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, which the Union Government passed earlier this year, ignoring the concerns raised by Muslim bodies. The Bandh will be observed on another day, the AIMPLB general secretary, Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi stated, adding that the next date will be announced later.

The board officials had urged that shops, offices, and business establishments, except hospitals and allied institutions, remain closed from 8 a.m. to 2 pm across India on October 3. It said the bandh would be peaceful, adding that it was a manifestation of a peaceful protest against the Waqf Amendment Act.

‘The protest is not against any community, the board clarified, but was an effort to raise a collective voice against amendments to the Waqf Act, the officials had said.
