Old Karma Tweet By Shah Rukh Khan Reemerges After ED Charges Case Against Sameer Wankhede

After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of India has filed a money laundering case against Sameer Wankhede, former zonal director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), an old tweet of Shah Rukh Khan about karma has reemerged.

Wankhede is accused of demanding Rs 25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan to not to frame his son Aryan Khan in a drug case in October 2021. The central agency has registered case against Wankhede under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), said media report.

ED registered the case against Wankhede, who was a 2008-batch Indian Revenue Service Customs (IRS), based on FIR registered by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in May last year.

As soon as hearing about the ED move, Wankhede moved to Bombay High Court seeking protection from any coercive action by the anti-money laundering agency. The High Court has granted him relief from coercive action in the CBI case.

In the First Information Report (FIR) by CBI, it is alleged that Rs 25 crore was demanded by Wankhede, former SP OF NCB – Vishwa Vijay Singh, Intelligence officer Ashish Ranjan and tow other private persons, namely Kiran Gosavi and Sanville D’Souza from Shah Rukh Khan in return of not framing his son Aryan Khan in the Cordelia cruise drug case. Later the accused persons reduced the bribe price to Rs 18 crore, as reported by media.

CBI booked Wankhede and others for alleged criminal conspiracy (IPC section 120 B), and threat of extortion (section 388), apart from provisions pertaining to bribery under the Prevention of Corruption Act on a complaint from NCB. Wankhede dismissed the charges against him by calling the CBI charges as part of “vendetta” against him from few NCB officers, said Hindustan Times.

Later NCB gave clean chit to Aryan Khan on May last year. the agency’s internal probe found out that the names of Aryan Khan and Arbaaz Merchant were included last moment in the “information note” of the agency. The investigation also found that documentation of seizure of phones and recording of the statements were not properly done by Wankhede and his team. The hyped case also too a twist when an independent witness claimed that Rs 25 crore was demanded by NCB official and other person, to let off Aryan Khan from the case.
