Kerala Men's Association Chief Moves HC, Seeks Transfer Of Deepak's Suicide Case To Crime Branch

Kochi, Kerala: All Kerala Men’s Association president, Ajith Kumar C, has approached the Kerala High Court seeking transfer of Deepak’s suicide case investigation to the Crime Branch or the CBI.

Deepak, a native of Govindapuram, Kozhikode, had committed suicide heartbroken after a woman, Shimjitha, shared a video alleging sexual misconduct on a bus. The 41-year-old man, who was working as a sales manager in Govindapuram, was found hanging inside his house on Sunday morning after the video posted by Shimjitha went viral on social media.

A magistrate’s court in Kerala had recently dismissed Shimjitha’s bail application, who has been charged with abetment of suicide in connection with the death of Deepak. Deepak’s family and friends have raised serious allegations against the woman who shared a video of Deepak, alleging sexual assault.

The family had maintained that Deepak did not behave badly with the girl and, hence, he has been very depressed since the video was released online, which forced him to take the extreme step.

Following public outrage, police took Shimjitha, a former panchayat member and social media vlogger, into custody in connection with the case, after issuing a lookout notice. Recently, a magistrate’s court in Kerala had dismissed Shimjitha’s bail application.
