Kerala HC Grants Anticipatory Bail To Kumbh Mela Fame Monalisa’s Husband Over 'Invalid Marriage Case'
Kochi, Kerala: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday, June 3, granted interim bail to Mohammed Farmaan Khan, the husband of Kumbh Mela fame Monalisa Bhosle, in a case registered in Madhya Pradesh. The case is on the allegations that Monalisa was kidnapped from her home and her marriage with Farmaan Khan was invalid, claiming she was a minor at the time of their wedding.
While giving interim anticipatory protection from arrest for one month, the Kerala High Court noted that the couple could approach a Madhya Pradesh court for anticipatory bail, Bar and Bench reported.

While hearing the case, Justice Kauser Edappagath said that Monalisa’s husband should approach the jurisdictional court in Madhya Pradesh for anticipatory bail, while granting interim protection that he shall not be arrested during this one-month time frame, to enable him to file his plea before the Madhya Pradesh court.

There were also allegations that the Monalisa was minor and had not attained the legal age for marriage when her weeding took place with Farman earlier this year. The interfaith marriage was then challenged in regarding the legality of their marriage and whether charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) would be attracted.
Monalisa’s father lodged a kidnapping complaint with the police. Fearing arrest, the couple approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail, rejecting allegations that she was a minor at the time of her marriage with Farmaan.
