Kumbh Viral Girl Monalisa, Her Husband Approaches MP High Court Against State Govt's Arbitrary Actions

Indore, Madhya Pradesh: Kumbh viral girl Monalisa Bhosle and her husband Farmaan Khan have approached Madhya Pradesh high court by filing writ petition today, May 19, against arbitrary actions of Madhya Pradesh government.

Following the wedding of Monalisa with Farmaan Khan in Kerala’s temple, the interfaith couple had sought police protection due to family opposition, aiming to escape pressure from family in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

In their petition to the High Court, the couple demanded a stay on the cancellation of her birth certificate and all further proceedings, investigations, coercive action, from Madhya Pradesh police.

The Madhya Pradesh government and authorities later intervened in the marriage of Kumbh Mela viral girl after investigations by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) and state medical records noted that she was a minor (around 16 years old) at the time of her March 2026 temple wedding in Thiruvananthapuram.

Following that, a case was registered against her husband Faram Khan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Maheshwar police station in Madhya Pradesh. After the couple filed a petition in Kerala High Court asserting that Monalisa had turned 18 years in January this year, and was an adult when she married Farmaan, the Kerala High Court granted interim protection from arrest to her partner.
