MP HC Declares Bhojshala Masjid Site As Saraswati Temple, Quashes ASI Circular Allowing Namaz
Bhojshala, Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday, May 15 declared Bhojshala, where Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque is situated, as temple edicated to Goddess Saraswati. The court quashed an order passed by the Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) in 2003 allowing the Muslim community to offer namaz at the site.
The ASI order had restricted Hindu worship within the complex. While quashing the ASI order, the high court stated that it recorded finding that historical literature of the place establishes as a centre of Sanskrit learning associated with Raja Bhoj, indicating the existence of Temple dedicated to Goddess Sarawsati at Dhar.

“Therefore, the religious character of the area is held to be Bhojshala with temple of Goddess Vagdevi Saraswati,” ordered a bench comprising Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla and Justice Alok Awasthi while allowing a writ petition filed by the Hindu Front for Justice among others, Live Law reports.
