TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee slammed the incident, blaming the ‘BJP-backed micleants for the barbaric attack’ destroying the livelihoods of innocent people overnight. “Hindu-owned shops, Muslim-owned shops, it made no difference. This was not an attack on any one community; it was a calculated assault on Bengal’s social harmony, democratic fabric and the ordinary citizens who simply want to live in peace,” the TMC leader wrote on X, underlining that this is the true face of BJP’s politics: hatred, intimidation and destruction.
“Bengal will never surrender to such violence. Those responsible for this shameful act must be identified and brought to justice at the earliest,” the MP added.
TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee also attacked the BJP for unleashing attacks against its party workers and their families. “Such barbaric acts are not only an attack on a political party, but also a direct assault on democracy, peaceful political coexistence, and the safety of ordinary citizens. We strongly condemn this heinous violence and demand the immediate arrest of those responsible, along with the strictest possible punishment to ensure justice is served,” Banerjee wrote on X.
