Kolkata, West Bengal: Following reports of alleged electoral malpractices, the Election Commission ordered repolls at 15 booths across two assembly constituencies in West Bengal’s South 24 Spargana district, and the polling began on Saturday.

People began casting votes in 11 polling stations in Magrahat Passim and four in Diamond Harbor at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. Though there have been no reports of any unrest or violence reported, one of the polling stations halted voting for over an hour after an Electronic Voting Machine (Eve) reportedly malfunctioned, and the electors had to wait in queue for a long time.

Election officials said that there has been no incidents of violence or unrest, and there are an adequate number of central forces in the two constituencies. Webcasting is also underway, as the officials are monitoring the proceedings. Over 16 per cent turnout was recorded in the first two hours of voting during repoll in 15 booths of two assembly constituencies.
