Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Deal, Drone Attacks Reported In Multiple Areas
The fragile ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan collapsed within hours of its announcement on Saturday, with reports of multiple violations, including drone incursions and shelling across Jammu and Kashmir.
Responding to the violations, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said: “An understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan to stop the military action that was going on for the last few days. For the last few hours, this understanding is being violated by Pakistan. The Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with this border intrusion. This intrusion is extremely condemnable and Pakistan is responsible for it. We believe that Pakistan should understand this situation properly and take appropriate action immediately to stop this intrusion.”
The truce, aimed at reducing tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border, was breached shortly after its announcement. Explosions were reported in several areas, including Srinagar, where former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar.”
Drone Activity in Gujarat
In a separate development, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi warned residents of the Kutch district after multiple drones were spotted near the border. “A complete blackout will be implemented now. Please stay safe, don’t panic,” he tweeted. Security forces are on high alert amid fears of further infiltration attempts.
Heavy Shelling in Jammu & Kashmir
Government sources confirmed that Pakistan violated the ceasefire in at least 10 sectors, including:
– Udhampur
– Akhnoor
– Nowshera
– Poonch
– Rajouri
– Mendhar
– Jammu
– Sunderbani
– RS Pura
– Arnia
– Kathua
India’s Strong Response Expected
Top government sources indicate that the Border Security Force (BSF) has been authorised to retaliate firmly. The sudden escalation has led to speculation about whether Pakistan’s military leadership, particularly Army Chief Gen Asim Munir, is fully in control or if factions within the Pakistan Army are sabotaging the peace process.
As shelling and drone activities reported inside Indian borders, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was seen thanking US President Donald Trump and his team for brokering the deal.
“We thank President Trump for his leadership and proactive role for peace in the region .
Pakistan appreciates the United States for facilitating this outcome, which we have accepted in the interest of regional peace and stability.
We also thank Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for their valuable contributions for peace in South Asia.
Pakistan believes this marks a new beginning in the resolution of issues that have plagued the region and prevented its journey toward peace, prosperity and stability,” PM Sharif said in an X post.
