Mumbai, Maharashtra: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has reached Mumbai to attend proceedings at the Bhiwandi court in a private criminal defamation case filed against him.

The case is related to a 2014 RSS remark. According to Advocate Narayan Iyer, who represents the Congress leader, today’s hearing concerns the cross-examination of the investigating officer who conducted the investigation under Section 202 in 2014.

The hearing thus involves the cross-examination of the investigating officer and requires Gandhi to sign a bond and provide a new guarantor following the death of his previous guarantor, Shivraj Patil.

He had appeared in a separate defamation case in Sultanpur court the previous day.
