RSS Chief’s "Then He Wants To Become Devta", Congress' 'Non-Biological' Dig At PM Modi

Congress general secretary in charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh, took a sharp jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to some remarks made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat recently. Ramesh remarked that Modi must have received news of the latest “Agni Missile, fired by Nagpur from Jharkhand and aimed at Lok Kalyan Marg”, in regards with what Bhagwat commented on human behaviour.

Bhagwat stated that there is no end to progress and that people aspire to become a ‘Devta’ or ‘Bhagwan,’ but ‘Bhagwan’ is a ‘Vishwaroop,’ suggesting an endless scope for development.

“There is no end of progress… People want to become superman, but he doesn’t stop there, then he wants to become ‘Devta’, then ‘Bhagwan’, but ‘Bhagwan’ says he is a ‘Vishwaroop’. Nobody knows whether there is anything bigger than that. There is no end of development. One should think that there is always a scope for more. The workers should understand this. One should always strive for more,” Bhagwat said during a village-level workers’ interaction programme in Bishnupur, Jharkhand.

However, Ramesh used the occasion to take a at dig PM Modi using the comments he made in an interview with News18 on May 23, during the general elections, where the latter had expressed that he felt his energy was bestowed by God, not from his biological body. He had shared that upon reflecting after his mother’s passing, he believed he was guided by divine energy in his actions.

“When my mother was alive, I used to believe that I was born biologically. After she passed away, upon reflecting on all my experiences, I was convinced that God has sent me. This energy could not be from my biological body, but was bestowed upon me by God…whenever I do anything, I believe God is guiding me,” PM Modi had said then.

Jairam Ramesh said: “I am sure the self-anointed non-biological PM has got news of this latest Agni Missile, fired by Nagpur from Jharkhand and aimed at Lok Kalyan Marg.”

RSS, the ideological parent of PM Modi’s BJP, is headquartered at Nagpur in Maharashtra and Lok Kalyan Marg is where PM’s office is situated in Delhi.

Reports have previously indicated that the RSS is dissatisfied with the daily operations of PM Modi and his government. Through its mouthpiece, Organiser, the right-wing organization commented that the results of the Lok Sabha poll in 2024 served as a reality check for “overconfident” BJP workers. These workers, it said, failed to grasp that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for 400+ seats was a target for them, not for the Opposition.

The Organiser also noted that one of the key reasons for the loss in 2024 was the leaders’ failure to engage with their ideological allies. Additionally, the BJP’s clinical approach in selecting candidates and the induction of Congress members, who had previously promoted the bogey of saffron terror and persecuted Hindus, contributed to the defeat.
