Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in his annual Vijayadashami speech on Tuesday asked the audience to stay vigilant against “divisive forces” ahead of the assembly elections in November and general elections in 2024. The event was held at the Reshimbagh area of Nagpur, Maharashtra. While addressing thousands of RSS volunteers, he stressed the importance of casting votes mindfully for the most competent candidates.
In the speech Mr Singh emphasised that voters should not submit to those looking to promote strife and division in society. He cautioned that some may turn to provocative statements and other tactics to manipulate public opinion, and he urged citizens to use their votes to counter such efforts and elect the most qualified representatives who worked for them.
“Some elements deliberately disrupt peace in India. Fanaticism only breeds chaos, leading to conflicts worldwide,” HT quotes as Mr Singh saying.

He then talked about India’s growing global prominence and rapid progress in diverse sectors. Ms Bhagwat cited the praises India received for its exceptional hospitality during the G20 summit of world leaders in New Delhi. During the summit, the world witnessed the richness of Indian culture, immersed in diversity, and refelcting India’s diplomatic expertise and genuine goodwill.
Furthermore, Ms Bhagwat said that India’s expanding influence on the global arena and its the increasing stature is drawing world attention, especialy in matter of its potential to address global challenges.
Singer Shankar Mahadevan, who attended RSS’s Vijaydashami event as the chief guest, praised the organisation in its efforts to preserve the idea of a unified India and its diverse cultural heritage. Other attendees include Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
