With Left And VCK Support To TVK, Actor-Politician Vijay To Meet Governor For Government Formation

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Amid constitutional stalemate in the absence of a majority to form the government, actor -turned-politician Vijay is all set to meet Tamil Nadu Governor RV Arlekar at 6 pm today, after reportedly receiving backing from Congress and two each from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Communist Party of India.

Vijay has been meeting governors failing to convince him to reach the simple majority to form the government at Tamil Nadu following his blockbuster debut in politics. TVK won 108 seats out of the total 234 in Tamil Nadu, emerging as the single largest party in the state. However, the party failed to get majority mark of 118 seats to form the government.

Notably, with support from Congress, VCK and left parties, the TVK is confident to form government, despite reports of the Dravidian arch-rivals DMK and AIADMK possible coalition against Vijay’s TVK.

Vijay met the governor two times earlier, and both attempts were dismissed, noting that the TVK leader does not have the required support in the House.
