Telangana Government Imposes Ban On Special Shows After 'Pushpa 2' Stampede: Report

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sent a firm message to the Telugu movie actors, directors, and producers by banning benefit shows after the Hyderabad stampede case, as per an NDTV report. The move comes after the death of a woman in the Hyderabad theatre stampede incident during the premiere of the sequel Pushpa 2.

Reddy also made some regulations for public safety during film releases. In a significant remark, he also emphasised that crowd control is as much a responsibility of celebrities as it is that of the police and that of actors when appearing in public.

According to NDTV, Reddy also banned benefit shows or special screenings and warned private security personnel of high-profile actors like Allu Arjun. The warning comes after the claims of the Hyderabad police, who state that the bouncers of the actor behaved “recklessly” during the stampede. Moreover, it also suggests that the aggressive actions of the bouncers had aggravated the incident.

This meeting with the CM was attended by the big heads of the Telugu film industry, including actor Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Arvind, and Dil Raju, the chair of the state’s Film Development Corporation.

The eight-year-old child, whose mother died in the stampede, is currently in the hospital. Though he was critical initially, his health has improved with doctors removing him from the ventilator. Sri Tej is now receiving liquid food.

This action of the government is the result of the stampede, which became the reason for the death of a woman named Revathy. As the issue created waves across the country, on Wednesday, Allu Arvind announced a sum of Rs 2 crore would be given to the victim’s husband as a measure of compensation and for the future of his son.

Allu Arjun was arrested in the Sandhya theatre stampede case in Hyderabad and was taken into custody from his house in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills and shifted to Chikkadpally police station on December 13. Later, he got bail and was released from jail after a night of detention.
