Allu Arjun made his debut 25 years ago. Today, May 7, means something special in the actor’s career, as his romantic action film Arya hit the milestone of 21 years. Here is a special note dropped by the Pushpa actor, who walked down the memory lane of the making of the film.
Arya, the romantic comedy film released in 2004, brought magic not only to Allu Arjun but to the careers of director Sukumar and producer Dil Raju as well. While the actor is still basking in the success of the sequel Pushpa 2 with Sukumar, he took the opportunity to cherish the memories of the initial days of his career.

According to Allu Arjun, Arya is not just a film but a beginning of an extraordinary journey that changed his life. While the makers of the film celebrate their milestone achievement of 21 years of Arya, here are some interesting facts about the film.
The casting twist in Arya
Even though the Allu Arjun and Anu Mehta etched themselves as a remarkable pair in the minds of the audience, they were actually not the initial choice for the makers. The script was initially offered to Prabhas and Ravi Teja. Since neither of the actors felt like the ideal fit, the makers approached Allu Arjun after being impressed by his body language and persona. Later Anuradha Mehta played the lead role in the film.
Allu Arjun rejected 71 scripts before choosing Arya
Actor Allu Arjun’s determination to find a perfect project to chisel his career also played a major role in the success of the film. Interestingly, before encountering Sukumar’s script, the Pushpa actor rejected 71 scripts which failed to align with his idea. Despite numerous disappointments, Allu Arjun finally found his lucky charm, which elevated his career.
Director Sukumar’s decision to leave the project
The story behind the success of the film was not as smooth as we imagine. At one point of the initial discussion, Sukumar even considered leaving the project. In fact, the Pushpa franchise director was initially disappointed by the changes suggested by Allu Aravid, Allu Arjun’s father. Frustrated by the demand for changes even after repeated explanations, Sukumar planned to step out of the project.
However, after constant discussions, both parties agreed to incorporate revisions and worked together towards the film’s success.
The box office achievement
Arya marks the first union of Allu Arjun with his lucky charm Sukumaran. As a fortune bearer opening new doors to the makers’ careers, Arya received immense love from the audience with a box office record of Rs 31.1 crore, equivalent to approximately Rs 110.17 crore in current estimations.

Remake versions of Arya
After the film’s wide reception in Telugu, Sukumar’s film was remade into four different languages. The film was remade in Bengali as Badha, in Odia as Pagala Premi, in Sinhala as Adaraye Namayen, and in Tamil as Kutty. The Malayalam-dubbed version of the film also received much love by the audience.
