Three Masked Miscreants Barge Into Masjid, Kill Imam In Ajmer

In a terrible incident, an Imam from a Masjid in Rajasthan’s Ajmer was beaten to death by three masked individuals, according to police officials, ANI reported. The incident happened in the wee hours on Saturday, and a search has been initiated by the police to find out the accused.

The victim, the Mosque’s cleric is identified as a resident of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. The Masjid is located in Kanchan Nagar, Daurai area of Ajmeer. 

According to the police officials who reached the site upon hearing the incident, at least six minor children were believed to be present inside the masjid when the gruesome incident took place. 

News agency ANI quoting a police officer reported that the police are working to ensure the safety of the children who are learnt to be the key witnesses in the Imam’s murder, adding that the police are extending all support for the children. 

The officer-in-charge of Ramganj police station Ravindra Singh said that the initial investigation suggested that three masked individuals were behind the murder, and the police are examining the CCTV footage from the area to find leads about the killers and their motives, the news agency reported. 

Explaining the incident, Ravindra Singh said that the killing happened when the Imam was sleeping in his room close to the Masjid with six children. Then, three masked men stormed into the room and started beating the Imam with sticks. As the children woke up from sleep, they were intimidated not to raise the alarm. The killers left the spot after ensuring that the Imam succumbed to his injuries. The children then ran outside to inform others, ETV Bharat reported quoting the officer.
