Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today declared In Uttar Pradesh that Narendra Modi will not return as Prime Minister on June 4. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and AAP MP Sanjay Singh.
During their joint rally in Kannauj, from where Akhilesh Yadav is contesting the Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi said, “Narendra Modi is not going to become the Prime Minister of India, take my words in writing, media people will not tell this.”
Then Gandhi urged voters to make “my brother Akhilesh Yadav win with an overwhelming majority, he has to win with the highest number of votes.”
Kannauj will vote on May 13. Both the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, members of the opposition INDIA bloc, are jointly contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Highlighting the power of the opposition alliance, Gandhi said, “An INDIA bloc storm is arriving in Uttar Pradesh. This is an election to protect the Constitution and the rights of the people. The BJP is going to face its biggest defeat in the state.”
Gandhi pledged that every family would receive Rs 1 lakh annually until they rise above the poverty line, besides promising to increase MNREGA wages and facilitating apprenticeships across various fields for the youth.
Gandhi warned the voters against potential distractions by the BJP in the coming days.
Yadav and Singh also addressed the rally, urging voters to support the INDIA bloc for their future.
Speaking at the rally, Akhilesh Yadav recalled how his father, the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, had brought him to Kannauj when he made his debut in politics and had handed him over to the people.
“Kannauj never left me and I will never leave Kannauj. BJP washed my house in Lucknow with ‘Ganga jal’ when I vacated it and now, they recently washed a temple after I prayed there. You should ensure that they get washed away this time,” he said.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh reminded people how BJP leaders talk about changing the Constitution. He said that top AAP leaders were sent to jail but this had not diminished their will to fight against the government.
