West Bengal Man Walks With Wife's Severed Head On Valentine's Day

A shocking and gruesome incident has been witnessed by residents of Purba Medinipur district in West Bengal on Valentine”s Day. Goutam Guchhait, the 40-year-old, was seen walking around at a bus stop with his wife”s severed head in one hand and a sickle in another.

Covered in blood, he kept raising the head and made threatening remarks at the crowd that had assembled around him. As mentioned, the incident fell on February 14, coincided with the Saraswati Puja and people are busy with festival preparations.

The police arrested the accused, and said that he beheaded his wife, Fulrani Guchhait due to family- problems. After the murder, Goutam Guchhait walked to the nearby bus stop and continued walking around. Many local residents recorded the gruesome scene on their mobile phones.

The police arrived at the scene an hour later and discovered the body of his wife. Goutam Guchhait was taken into custody and Fulrani Guchhait”s body was sent for post-mortem. According to witnesses, his parents were also taken to the police station. They had earlier claimed that he was mentally unstable.

Even before, Goutam Guchhait had shown signs of abnormal behaviour. Three years ago, he had jumped into a lion”s cage at the Alipore Zoo in Kolkata and was heavily injured. Though the enclosure had a 14-foot boundary wall, he climbed it and crossed two net fencings to get inside. Then, Guchhait crawled the ground to reach the lion that had come out of its den.
