In view of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is organising IBPS clerk exam on August 25, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has asked the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to postpone an important state level exam, the Gazetted Probationers Preliminary exam. The chief minister said the Karnataka exam will be held in the same week as earlier scheduled and a new date will be announced soon. IBPS clerk exam is a national level bank examination for participating banks, while the Gazetted Probationers Preliminary exam in Karnataka is the first stage of the KPSC recruitment process for selecting candidates for various Group A and Group B (Gazetted Probationers) posts in the Karnataka state government.
The IBPS clerk exam is being held as part of the Common Recruitment Process (CRP) in participating banks like Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Indian Overseas Bank UCO Bank, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Indian Bank, and Punjab & Sind Bank.
The IBPS clerk recruitment examination will be two tier; the online examination will be held in two phases, Online Preliminary and Online Main. Candidates who qualify in Online Preliminary Examination and shortlisted will have to appear for Online Main Examination. The online preliminary examination is being held on August 25. As per the notification released by the IBPS, the clerk recruitment is being held for 331 vacancies this year.
“In the interest of candidates appearing for the IBPS Clerk exam on August 25th, in consultation with KPSC, I have suggested to the KPSC to do a short postponement of the Gazetted Probationer Preliminary Exam 2024,” the Karnataka Chief Minister said in an X post.
“I am told the KPSC will conduct the GP Exam 2024 in the same week of August, as major preparations have already been done by KPSC. The KPSC will shortly announce new date,” he added.
