According to TeamLease EdTech’s Career Outlook Report 2024 released today, leading IT firms in India are bracing for a massive recruitment drive for the upcoming six months. As youth becoming more concerned about Artificial Intelligence taking over the jobs, the conclusion made by TeamLease says that the IT industry’s growth is due to the global demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performing Computing.
Noting the importance of familiarising with the generative AI, TeamLease EdTech CEO Jaideep Kewalramani said that the freshers need to be prepared to collaborate effectively with AI systems, as AI automation is set to transform the entire workflow.
The hiring prospects of freshers have improved with a 3 per cent increase compared to July and December last year. The report pointed out that 69 per cent of the companies look to freshers this year, a 3 per cent jump from the last year which was 65 per cent, The reason for the increased demand for freshers and entry-level workers is attributed to the transformation of the economy and the demand for talent with the contemporary skills.
The top industries that are likely to hire freshers will be E-commerce, technology startups, Engineering, Infrastructure and Telecommunications. The prospect of the freshers” hiring is also higher in the health sector by 44 %, the retail sector by 46% and the logistics sector by 32. Information technology has a striking 94 % incremental replacement hiring followed by Engineering, with an 88%. However, in the media and entertainment sector, the intent of freshers hiring will be low.
The job roles in demand for freshers in the current financial year are Chemical Engineer, Legal Associate, Architect, Graphic Designer, Microbiologist, Financial Analyst, Clinical Data Analyst, Junior Product Analyst, Cloud Support Engineer, Digital Marketing Executive, Software Developers, Medical Coder, Content Creator, Network Engineer, and E-commerce Executive. The in-demand courses in India are Cyber Security Expert Certification, Business Analyst Certification, Certification in Cloud Security Professional, Artificial Intelligence Certification, Digital Marketing, and Certified Supply Chain Professional.
The report also gave some insight into the current employment trend and stated that the skill shortage and the mismatch between the available skilled workers and the job requirements can influence the hiring process, citing 31 per cent of the respondents. Further, the report notes the consensus that technological advancement is a major factor in determining employment opportunities in India.
