Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has announced the Combined State/Senior Subordinate Service (prelims) Examination 2024 dates. The examination will be held on December 7 and 8, 2024 in 41 districts in two shits. The exam will be held in two sessions: the first session will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and the second session will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. A total of 5,75,154 candidates are registered for the PCS preliminary exam.
The commission took this step considering the number of candidates and capacity of the examination centres sent by the centre determination committees of all the districts. The Commission has also clarified that these are just the preliminary examinations which are conducted only for screening. The preliminary exam is not the basis for determining merit for final admission.

The Commission decided to conduct the exam in multiple days/shifts considering the non-availability of examination centres as per the standards prescribed by the government orders. As per the govt orders dated June 19, 2024, there must be only 5 lakh candidates in a single shift.
As per the commission’s secretary, the normalization formula has also been made public. Candidate’s marks and cut-off will be in the percentile scores.
Also, UPPSC has announced the preliminary examination dates of the much-awaited Review Officer-Assistant Review Officer recruitment. Over 10 Lakh candidates were waiting for the date of this recruitment exam. Finally, their wait is over. Per the released schedule, the RO-ARO preliminary exam will be conducted on December 22 and 23.
