'Died To Get Sympathy': Dept Head M K Ram Accused Of Insulting Nithin Raj Even After Death
Kannur, Kerala: Students at Kanpur Dental College in Anjarakandy have come out in large numbers accusing their management and staff of misconduct, which led to the death of a 23-year-old student, R.L. Nithin Raj, at the campus. The students have boycotted classes and academic activities.
Students have raised serious allegations against certain teachers, particularly the head of Dental Anatomy department, M.K. Ram, including frequent insults on the basis of skin color, physical appearance and caste, and allegedly threatened to fail them in examinations.
Some of the students alleged that Dr Ram continued his abusive remarks against his student even after his death, suggesting that the student died to gain sympathy.
Students alleged that Dr Ram regularly humiliated students, spoke disparagingly of them to parents, and allegedly intimidated them by threatening to disrupt viva voce examination. There are allegations against Associate Professor Dr. Sangeetha, too, and both were suspended from the collage.
Following the allegations, Thalassery Subcollector Karthik Panigrahi visited the college and held discussions with the management and student union representatives.
