The prize was for a ticket that was sold at Nagaraj’s NGR Lotteries, Bathery, sold to them by the wholesale agency SJ Lucky Center, Panamaram.
Before the draw, the Finance Minister stated that Kerala Lotteries’ Karunya Project, which is the light of life for about one lakh people, is a medical aid and the lottery welfare fund is a people’s lottery that supports the lives of agents including pension and medical aid.
He said that 33 crores have already been spent on providing welfare fund pension to lottery vendors. The highest amount of prize money is given in the state through tickets of low-priced draws. “The income received by the state government through lottery is only three percent,” he said.
“The government is taking steps to use and intervene in the social sectors as well,” he said while adding that based on the requests received from people including lottery ticket sellers, steps are being taken to revise the prize structure and guarantee more prizes.
The minister said that the income from the lottery is being fully utilized for public welfare and the lottery movement will be further strengthened with the support of the people.
