Kerala Rains: The heavy rains continues in several parts of Kerala on Tuesday. As per the local media reports, water levels are rising in the Achankovil, Meenachi, Korapuzha, Manimala, Vamanapuram, Perumba, Kabani, Bharathapuzha, and Uppala rivers and a flood alert has been issued.

Authorities have strictly instructed residents in nearby areas not to enter or cross the rivers. Also, residents have been asked to relocate from the affected areas for the time being.

Revenue Minister K Rajan told media that heavy rain will continue for the next four to five days. As many as 607 houses have been destroyed across the state due to intense rains. Of these, 21 houses were destroyed completely. A total of 456 people have been relocated to 16 relief camps, Minister added.

Railway services on Kozhikode-Shoranur route got disrupted for three hours in the morning after two trees fell on the railway line near Areekkad in Kozhikode. Under the supervision of Fire and Rescue Services department, the trees have been cut and removed and the electric lines of the railways that were damaged in the incident were repaired by railway officials. The rail traffic was then restored completely.

As per the reports, intense rain is expected on Thursday and Friday. Red Alert have been issued for Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on Wednesday.
