
Kerala Rains: Red Alert For 3 Districts; Trains Delayed, Relief Camps Open
Kerala Rains: As the torrential rain and winds continued to lash across Kerala, different parts of the State is encountering challenges. Train services are hindered, and electric lines were also brought down in certain areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert, signaling very heavy rainfall, in Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts for Tuesday. Authorities have declared holiday for all educational institutions in these districts including anganwadis, madrasas and tuition centres.

Meanwhile, Orange Alert, indicating heavy rain, has been declared for Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kasaragod, and a Yellow Alert, indicating moderate rainfall, has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Palakkad.
As the trees fell on the tracks at several places, it poses significant disruption on the railway services since Monday. Several trains are running late today also. It includes:
- Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru Malabar Express
- Amritsar – Kochuveli Superfast Express
- Guruvayoor – Trivandrum Express
- Kozhikode – Shoranur Passenger
- Nizamuddin–Ernakulam Mangala Express
- Chennai Egmore – Guruvayoor Express
- Chennai – Mangalore Express
- Anthyodaya Express
- Trivandrum – Nilambur Rajyarani Express
The Ernakulam district administration has opened 360 relief camps and shifted 58,512 people to the camps on Monday. As of now, 27 camps are functioning in the coastal areas and it currently accommodate 8,700 people.

A total of 51 houses were damaged in Paravur, Kanayannur, Muvattupuzha, Aluva and Kothamangalam taluks. Of this, one has been fully damaged, reports the Hindu.
