No Need For Outsiders To Teach Us Secularism: Kerala BJP Chief On Vlogger's Divisive Comment
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Sunday, October 25, responded to the ongoing controversy regarding You Tuber Amrit Singh Darren’s alleged divisive remark about Kerala and its people. The BJP Kerala chief said nobody needs to come from outside, certainly from North India and give lesson about what secularism is.
“Malayalees will decide what is to be done in Keralam, what can be eaten, what can be spoken, what can be sung and what we celebrate” Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

The BJP leader then accused chief minister VD Satheesan of practising “selective secularism” and questioned the ruling Congress and the CPI(M) over what he described as their support for a political culture that disrespects religious sentiment.
“I accept that he is right in principle, but he is certainly wrong in the way he practices communal harmony because I would propose to him, I would suggest to him: What would happen I today a Hindu or any Malayali sets up a restaurant named after a Muslim holy city and proceeds to serve pork in that restaurant, Just think about this,” the BJP leader asked.
Chandrasekhar’s remarks came in response to a social media post by Satheesan about the FIR against a YouTuber for allegedly making communal remarks in a video claiming that a cafe in Fort Kochi displayed a statue of Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and served beef, while being named after the holy city of Kashi.
The video, shared on Instagram, triggered widespread criticism, with Satheesan and Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemning the alleged communal remarks.
Fort Kochi police registered a case against Amrit Singh Darren, a YouTuber from a north Indian state, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) over the video.
