Thrissur Voter Fraud Row: Chandrasekhar Attacks Opposition For False Allegations; Suresh Gopi Maintains Silence
Thrissur, Kerala: BJP Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has accused the CPI(M) and Congress for working together to deceive the public. They are making false allegations of widespread voter fraud in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for the Thrissur constituency.
Speaking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, he stated that both parties are “making a fool of the public” and that the controversy is a major attempt to divert public attention from their other issues. He asked how the issue has become a controversy now, a year and a half after Suresh Gopi won the constituency by more than 70,000 votes.

Everyone is free to proceed through legal measures, BJP president said. Chandrasekhar challenged the CPI(M) and Congress to formally complain to the Election Commission of India (ECI) or take their voter fraud allegations to court if they are serious about their claims.
“The CPI(M) and the Congress say the EC is in the BJP’s pocket. If so, they could always seek recourse in the judiciary”, he said.
Meanwhile, even after reaching Thrissur on Wednesday, Gopi continued his silence on the repeated questions about the allegations of irregularities in the voters’ list and election fraud against him and his family members. “Thanks for helping so much,” Thrissur MP remarked in a sarcastic vein.
On Tuesday, Former Thrissur MP and KPCC Political Affairs Committee member T N Prathapan registerd a complaint with the Thrissur City Police Commissioner, accusing that Gopi illegally transferred his and his family members’ votes from their previous residence in Thiruvananthapuram to Thrissur just before the 2024 General Elections.

Besides, a woman named Prasanna alleged that nine fake voters were added to the electoral rolls using her residential address — without her knowledge or consent. She says she is the only person from the residence who votes in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency.
Thrissur is the lone seat in Kerala where the BJP was victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
