“Appeasement Politics”: BJP Snubs Sam Pitroda’s Comment On Ram Temple Inauguration

Edited by Kabani R

Sam Pitroda, the Chairperson of Indian Overseas Congress’ recent remarks on the inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, has invited strong reaction from the BJP on Wednesday. Snubbing it as “appeasement politics,” BJP MP and Minister of State for IT Rajeev Chandrashekhar stated that Congress leader’s remarks express the mindset of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi.

Union Minister asserted that Sam Pitroda is the “prime example” of the extent of Congress’ disconnection with the psyche of India. He was a powerful man and was directing the prime minister’s innovation council, Rajeev Chandrashekhar said, yet when 2G scam happened he was silent, and when inflation and other economic concerns arose, Sam Pitroda neglected it as ‘what if there is some inflation’.

“This is Sam Pitroda who is the mentor of Rahul Gandhi. A lot of it represents the thinking of Rahul Gandhi that Hindutva doesn’t matter. Terrorism doesn’t matter because of appeasement. Inflation and corruption doesn’t matter because of crony capitalism. Hindu faith doesn’t matter because of their appeasement politics,” HT quotes as Rajeev Chandrashekhar is saying.

Regarding Ram Temple inauguration, Sam Pitroda expressed concern about the overemphasis on religion in politics. “I’m concerned because too much importance is given to religion, and I see that democracy is being undermined,” he said.

The inauguration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya will take place on January 22. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust constituted to look after the construction and management of the temple has invited 4,000 saints and 2500 dignitaries for the ceremony. The chief guest at the event will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he will perform the rituals in sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple.
