“No One Asked Me To Resign”: Rahul Mamkootathil Breaks Silence On Misconduct Allegations
Palakkad MLA and Kerala Youth Congress chief Rahul Mamkootathil has finally responded to the storm of allegations levelled against him by women, saying that he has not been asked to resign and that no senior Congress leader has contacted him regarding the controversy, reported The Indin Express.
Rahul Mamkootathil dismissed the claims that the party high command had sought his removal, stating: “No one has asked me to resign. Nobody from the Congress has contacted me,” he asserted.
His comments come at a time when multiple women, including Malayalam actor Rini Ann George and writer Honey Bhaskaran, have accused him of harassment and inappropriate behaviour.
The complaints were reportedly escalated to the Congress High Command in Delhi and then forwarded to the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) for action.

Several senior Congress leaders, including Ramesh Chennithala, have demanded swift action. Chennithala openly urged that Mamkootathil should either step down voluntarily or be removed immediately, warning against any attempt to delay disciplinary measures.
At the same time, speculation is rife that Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan is trying to shield the MLA, though the party has not made any official statement yet.
Adding fuel to the fire, Reporter TV recently released a voice clip allegedly featuring Rahul Mamkootathil in a conversation with a woman about aborting her pregnancy.
The leaked audio, coupled with screenshots of alleged WhatsApp chats, has intensified the public backlash, with many accusing the young politician of gross misconduct and misuse of power.

While Mamkootathil denied the allegations earlier by saying that the woman in question was a “close friend” and that he was being wrongly targeted, the new revelations have left the Congress leadership under pressure.
Reports suggest that the party is now seriously considering removing Rahul Mamkootathil from all official responsibilities, and he may even be forced to step down as Palakkad MLA, a seat he won in the 2024 by-election.
