Congress To Remove Rahul Mamkootathil From All Party Positions

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: After some women members came up with serious misconduct allegations against Palakkad MLA and Congress youth wing chief Rahul Mamkootathil, the party is reportedly considering to remove the young politician from all the party responsibilities.

The move came in the wake of a series of allegations raised by alleged victims of misconduct by Mamkootathil. As per reports, the complaints were reached to the party High Command in Delhi, which was then forwarded to the KPCC for action. Mamkootathil is also likely to step down as Palakkad MLA, which he won in November last year during the by-election.

The reports comes amid reports of Leader Of Opposition VD Satheesan trying to protect the young politician from the allegations against him.

The politician currently holds dual posts – MLA and Youth Congress state president. Notably, there discussions earlier too about removing the youth leader from the state position after he became a legislator. The present allegations, however, prompted the party leadership to take the decision.

With allegations including sexual misconducts surfacing, Congress leadership is believed to have thought that retaining Mamkootathil in the position would adversely impact the upcoming Assembly Elections prospects of the party, which is scheduled for next year. Leaders including VD Satheesan and KPCC president Sunny Joseph have reportedly held discussions with regard to the issue.
