Crime Branch Arrests Rahul Mamkootathil In Fresh Rape Case, MLA Claims 'Was Consensual'
Palakkad, Kerala: Kerala Crime Branch on Saturday took Pakkad MLA and former Youth Congress State president Rahul Mamkootathil into custody after a fresh complaint was filed alleging sexual abuse by a woman against the politician.
While the MLA claims it was consensual, the woman has alleged rape and sexual abuse by Mamkootathil in her complaint. The police team led by the Shoranur DySP took Mamkootathil into custody from a hotel in Palakkad in a dramatic and discreet operation around midnight.

The MLA has been brought to Pathanamthitta’s AR Camp for questioning and will appear before Thiruvalla Judicial Magistrate’s Court post-interrogation.
Mamkootathil, already facing sexual abuse charges based on complaints by two other women, had earlier obtained interim protection from arrest from the court in those cases.
