"Shafi Parambil Ignored My Warning," Says M.A. Shahanas In Explosive Facebook Post Against Rahul Mamkootathil
Since the sexual assault case against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil continues to deepen, another strong voice has come forward with serious revelations.
Indian Youth Congress Kerala Culture & Literature chairperson M.A. Shahanas has posted a long Facebook note on Wednesday, claiming that she had warned the party leadership about Rahul Mamkoottathil years ago, but no one took her seriously.
In her detailed post, Shahanas said she feels no guilt today because she had spoken about Rahul’s behaviour at the right time, especially when he was being selected to lead the Youth Congress in Kerala.
According to her, she had personally messaged the Youth Congress president, Shafi Parambil, warning that many young women considered the Youth Congress a space where they could work safely.
She said that if people like Rahul were brought to positions of power, women activists would face harassment. She also said she had “proof” that she made this warning long ago.
However, she wrote that instead of taking her concerns seriously, she received ridicule and disrespect from within the party.
She said that the mockery she experienced made her stronger, and today, when a 23-year-old woman has come forward with a fresh sexual assault complaint, she no longer feels any guilt or regret for not speaking up more loudly back then.

As a mother of a 21-year-old daughter, she wrote that she understands the fear and trauma of victims.
In her Facebook post, Shahanas strongly criticised the culture of protecting powerful male leaders instead of listening to women.
She wrote that many people show support for women only in public speeches, but when real victims come forward, these same people become silent or hostile.
She accused party supporters of targeting victims online to protect Rahul Mamkootathil, who is now suspended from the Congress and is facing multiple criminal charges, including rape, intimidation, and recording private images.
Shahanas also said that it is painful to see women who come forward with complaints being mocked by people, including women from the party itself.
She alleged that Rahul Mamkootathil had misbehaved with several Mahila Congress workers, even those of his mother’s age. She claimed that many women, including herself, received inappropriate messages from him, but she stayed silent because she did not want to harm the party.

Referring to her own experience, she also wrote that a Congress leader who had harassed her was later given a major position in the party’s district committee.
Despite being a victim, she said she still had to walk into the same office where her harasser was protected and rewarded. According to her, this shows the “deep problem” inside the organisation.

Shahanas stated that senior leaders like V.D. Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and Rajmohan Unnithan had always kept their distance from Rahul Mamkootathil and had opposed him.
But she added that many supporters continue to insult victims and portray Rahul as an innocent political target.
She wrote that she continues to stay in the Congress not for benefits but because she believes in the values of the organisation. She said the party should not be held responsible for Rahul’s alleged actions, but supporters must stop humiliating victims to defend him.
Her post ends with a strong note that she will continue to write, continue to speak, and continue to stand with every woman who experiences harassment. She said her pen is her weapon, and she will not be silenced by cyberattacks or internal pressure.
Her revelations have added a new dimension to the ongoing case, especially at a time when another woman has filed a fresh complaint of sexual assault against the MLA.
The Special Investigation Team continues to search for Rahul Mamkootathil, who remains absconding despite a lookout notice.
