New Delhi, April 2: In further boost to the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, two-time sitting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, Ajay Kumar Nishad today joined the party.
He was inducted into the party in presence of the AICC Incharge for Bihar Mohan Prakash, Chairman of the Media and Publicity in the Communications Department Pawan Khera and the Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Singh.
Welcoming him into the party, Mohan Prakash and Akhilesh Singh said, his joining the Congress will strengthen the party in the state. They said, Mr Nishad belongs to and represents the Extremely Backward Community. His father Capt Jai Narain Nishad was also a four-time MP and a prominent leader from the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Nishad said, he was grateful to the Congress leadership, particularly Rahul Gandhi for providing him the chance to work with them.
He alleged that his self-respect had been deeply hurt by the BJP leadership. He said, it was not the issue of denial of party ticket, but the way the leadership there treated him. He said, he will not only work for strengthening the party, but also redeeming his self-respect.
Pawan Khera said, the joining of yet another sitting MP from the BJP into Congress was indicative of the winds of change, which have already started blowing. Without naming the Prime Minster, he said, he had lost his sleep after realising the ground situation prevailing across the country.
