Lalji Verma Wins From Ambedkar Nagar Constituency

In Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar constituency, SP candidate Lalji Verma won the seat by defeating sitting BJP MP Ritesh Pandey by a margin of 1,37,247 votes.

Lalji Verma secured a total of 5,44,959 votes and Ritesh Pandey garnered 4,07,712 votes.

Lalji Verma is associating with the SP from student days. He is a former member of  Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly.

Ritesh Pandey has also served as Jalalpur MLA. He was the leader of BSP in Lok Sabha. In February 2024, he resigned from the BSP and joined BJP. This time, he contested election on a BJP ticket.

Ritesh Pandey is contesting for the Lok Sabha seat for a second time. Qamar Hayat is the BSP candidate.

Ambedkar Nagar, earlier known as Akbarpur, was a stronghold for BSP between 1996 and 2004. BSP stalwart Mayawati represented the constituency during this period. The constituency was reshaped following the delimitation in 2008.

In 2014, Hari Om Pandey of BJP defeated Rakesh Pandey of BSP by gaining 4,32,104 votes. Ritesh Pandey retained the seat for BSP by receiving 5,64,118 votes.
