Pallavi Srinivas Dempo, The Richest BJP Candidate From South Goa Constituency

Pallavi Shrinivas Dempo, possibly, is the richest candidate of BJP from the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency. With her declared wealth worth Rs 1,361 crore, Pallavi is the richest candidate in the phase 3 election. She is followed by, Jyotiraditya Scindia, with the declared wealth of Rs 424 crore.

Pallavi belongs to a prominent business family in Goa. She is the first female candidate to be fielded by the BJP in the coastal state for the Lok Sabha election. After being nominated, Pallavi, who formally joined the party at its Panaji office thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP for choosing her. Pallavi is a fresher in the party and BJP faced criticism for fielding an “outsider”, rather than a party worker.

She said that PM Modi’s vision has always empowered everyone irrespective of their religion, caste, and creed. She added that there is always a beginning for everything and she believe in BJP’s ideology.

Pallavi is a graduate in Chemistry and Post Graduate in Business Management. She is the Executive Director of Dempo Industries Ltd and the trustee of Dempo Charities Trust. Her husband Shrinivas Dempo is the chairman of Dempo Group of Companies. Starting from the mining business, the Dempo diversified into real estate, food processing, ship building, newspaper publishing and calcined petroleum coke business. It is to note that Pallavi’s husband, Shrinivas Dempo purchased electoral bonds worth Rs 1.25 crore in a personal capacity, as revealed by the recent electoral bond data.

In South Goa, Pallavi is contesting against Congress’ Francisco Sardinha. The constituency has a sizeable Christian population. It is considered a bastion of Congress. BJP has only won twice, in 1999 and 2014, while Congress has won the seat for 10 times.
