Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a nationwide outreach programme titled Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra to promote chief central government schemes. He flagged off five IEC (Information, Education and Communication) vans from Jharkhand”s Khunti to mark the beginning of the yatra. It intend to reaching out to the beneficiaries who are eligible for various central schemes but  not received so far. The campaign will conclude on January 25, 2024.

The yatra will cover 2.7 lakh gram panchayats and around 15,000 urban locations where ground-level activities will take place using these automated IEC vans, PTI reports. Officials report that through the details collected during the Yatra the potential receivers will be enlisted. “We start with the tribal areas in 21 states in 69 districts of the country and will reach out to 393 blocks in 8940 gram panchayats in the first phase,” NDTV reports as official saying. He adds that vans will stop at a place for a few hours so that advantages of central government schemes clearly communicate to the citizens. Besides, to gain attention of the people, regional language movies focusing on particular states will be screened in the vehicle. Furthermore, they are developing an app to trace the events and people”s responses, official said.

Meanwhile, Pinarayi Vijayan-led government in Kerala has instructed the district administrations not to associate with Centre”s Yatra on the lines of the Nava Kerala Sadas organised to propagate the development achievements of the State government, OnManorama reports.

As the nation going to witness General Elections in few months, the Yatra intends to circulate Central government“s achievements over the past nine years.
