Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized Governor Arif Mohammad Khan amid a growing tussle between the Left government and the Raj Bhavan on the issue of not signing land amendment bill. Pinarayi has also asked the farmers to march to Raj Bhavan raising their needs. The Kerala government recently filed a case against the governor in the apex court alleging delaying to sign the bills passed by legislative assembly.
Pinarayi Vijayan reminded the governor that there is a limit for everything. He also lashed out on national agencies for trying to fabricate case in Kerala and cited the example of LIFE mission. He alleged that they have tried all possible ways to stop the mission from happening but the government went on with the project. The LIFE Mission house plan is part of government housing schemes in Kerala to provide shelter to landless and homeless people in Kerala. The target is to build 4.3 lakh LIFE mission homes in five years.
“Continuous LDF rule helped in implementing more than four lakh houses a reality and LDF cleared the pension dues and is now Rs 1600. If it was UDF, the pensions would have stretched endlessly,” he said. He also added that the National Highway, GAIL Pipeline became a reality due to the strong determination of the LDF government.
Meanwhile, even while accusing the CPM government in Kerala of extravaganza, Mohammad Khan has reportedly sought drastic increase in various fund allocations to the Raj Bhavan. As per the report, the Raj Bhavan has demanded the enhancement of the annual allocations up to Rs 2.6 crores. The present total allocation is Rs 32 lakh. The enhancement is for purposes like treating guests, tours, furniture renovation, and office expenses. Adding on to the row, the governor’s demand came in soon after his criticism against chief minister that money was being spent for renovation of the swimming pool at the official residence of the chief minister.
