Imran Masood, a prominent leader in Uttar Pradesh, who was also a member of UP legislative assembly has joined the Congress Party today.
According to Mr. Masood, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi”s Bharath Jodo Yathra has brought “winds of change” in Uttar Pradesh. Senior leaders like Rajiv Shukla, Ajay Rai, Pawan Khera and Pradeep Narwal was present during Mr. Masood joined the Congress Party from AICC headquarters.
Congress party responded to the new addition to their party as the party”s strong emergence. The party leaders said Congress is growing as a “strong opposition” in Uttar Pradesh and in seven months from now, the result will be shown in the 2024 election. They also said that more prominent leaders from Uttar Pradesh is highly likely to join Congress in the coming days.
Mr. Masood felt the change as “homecoming”. For him, he was originally a Congressman. He also accentuated his gratitude towards the party”s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, former president Rahul Gandhi and current president of the Indian National Congress Mallikarjun Kharge for providing with such opportunity.
When asked about the seat sharing, Rajiv Shukla, member of Rajya Sabha, said it is up to the high command of the party to decide. And also added that the INDIA bloc is drawing out a successful path.
Mr. Masood had left the Congress party one and half year ago. He promise that, this time he is back for good and apologised for leaving the party. “I will stay in the Congress till I go to my grave” he declared outside the AICC headquarters.
