Samajwadi party announced second list of candidates from Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha polls. The party”s second list has11 candidates. The announcement came amidst the seat-sharing talks with Congress. Samajwadi party has given ticket to Rajesh Kashyap from Shahjahanpur of Bareilly division.

Since Shahjahanpur seat of Bareilly division is believed to be a strong fort of BJP, Kashyap is expected to give a tough competition. Sharing joy over the winning the ticket to the Lok Sabha election, Kashyap said, though there are three ministers opposite him competing from the same constituency, he does not care about them as he is very confident that Shahjahanpur’s people are with him. Talking to media, Rajesh Kashyap said, the Bharatiya Janata Party is filled with several issues like corruption, and nothing else.

In Shahjahanpur, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, PWD Minister Jitin Prasad, and JPS Rathore, who is in responsibility of Cooperation are also competing. BJP yields power in all six assembly seats of the Shahjahanpur district.

Earlier in October last year, Kashyap claimed that he has received threats over phone calls asking him not to contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said police has filed an FIR based on his complaint. Talking to PTI, Kashyap said, “I got a phone call on October 18, with the caller telling me not to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections. I received a similar call on October 19. It was followed by dozens of such calls following which I informed the police”.
