In Sant Kabir Nagar Lok Sabha constituency, Laxmikant (Pappu Nishad) won the seat with a winning margin of 92,170 votes since he received 4,98,695 votes. Meanwhile, BJP’s sitting MP Praveen Kumar Nishad became runner up with a total of 4,06,525 votes.

Laxmikant, popularly known as Pappu Nishad, is a candidate from the Samajwadi Party (SP). He was the Minister of State for Fertilizers and Logistics with Independent charge in Akhilesh Yadav’s Uttar Pradesh Government and a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 2012 to 2017.

As mentioned, Praveen Kumar Nishad currently serves as Sant Kabir Nagar MP. He is the son of Dr. Sanjay Nishad, the founder of the NISHAD Party. In 2019, Praveen Kumar Nishad won by securing a total of 4,67,543 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Bheeshma Shankar stood second with a total 4,31,794 votes, losing by 35,749 votes.
