Shashi Tharoor Welcomes “All Weights” To Thiruvananthapuram

Kerala media outlet Manorama news’ recent opinion poll of Lok Sabha election 2024 suggested a clear win along with increase in vote share for Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. This survey was shared by Congress leader, Vijay Thottathil on his X account.

“Dr @ShashiTharoorto increase his vote share in Thiruvananthapuram as per the survey done by @manoramanews! If the rumors are right we will have a heavy weight landing in TVM to fight against ST, could be none other than FM OR IT minister. Nevertheless, Tharoor ji will win TVM,” he wrote on X along with the survey post.

As per the vote survey, Tharoor is expected to win with an increase in vote share of 0.15%. In the 2019 election, Tharoor won with a vote percentage of 41.14. Once again, he is expected to win with 41.29% in 2024 election.

Vijay Thottathil expects heavy weights, either BJP stalwarts union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman or IT minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar to contest election in Thiruvananthapuram assembly. Taking the post, Tharoor confidently welcomed all ‘heavy weights’ to the constituency as he expects a clear win.

He wrote, “All ‘weights’ welcome! #MoveToTrivandrum”.

BJP has decided to root major national leaders in constituencies of Kerala. BJP focuses mainly on six Lok Sabha seats in which the Thrissur district, the hot debated constituency will have Suresh Gopi as their BJP candidate. Suresh Gopi who has been working actively among the people of Thrissur since the last election has gained appeal among masses.

The names under active consideration for the Thiruvananthapuram constituency are the Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajeev Chandrasekhar. BJP has also considered fielding Rajeev Chandrasekhar in Palakad constituency too. Union Minister V Muraleedharan”s name has been suggested for Attingal.

Meanwhile, Kerala BJP state secretary Surendran stated that the possibilities of Narendra Modi contesting in Thiruvananthapuram cannot be ruled out completely while speaking to regional channel on Sunday.
