Congress leader Shashi Tharoor expressed his delight and excitement for his first Personal Security Officer (PSO) Pramod Kumar for achieving promotion in police service through his official handle.

Pramod Kumar was the first PSO of the Congress MP when he came to Kerala in 2009. Tharoor shared his delight for Kumar’s promotion to the position of Sub inspector. Pramod invited the Congress MP to honour him by pinning his new epaulettes on his uniform.

“Delighted that my PSO when I first came to Kerala in 2009, Pramod Kumar, has been promoted as Sub-Inspector. He invited me to pin his new epaulettes on his uniform. A proud moment for both of us!” he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor, Thiruvananthapuram Congress MP was given a final opportunity by Delhi High Court to file submissions in a plea in which he has challenged the defamation proceedings against him launched on a complaint by a BJP leader over his alleged “scorpion on Shivling” remark targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

The matter has been adjourned until March 15, 2024 as per the request of the Congress leader’s counsel and has asked the lawyer to file a written submission. But the court has made its stance clear that if the matter fails to be argued on the next hearing, the petition will be decided on the basis of the written submissions.

As per the complaint, Mr Tharoor claimed an unnamed RSS leader had compared Prime Minister Modi to “a scorpion sitting on a Shivling”, and termed it an “extraordinarily striking metaphor” in October, 2018.

The complaint read, “”I am a devotee of Lord Shiva… However, the accused (Tharoor) completely disregarded the sentiments of crores of Shiva devotees, (and) made the statement which hurt the sentiments of all Lord Shiva devotees, both in India and outside the country.” The complaint was filed under sections 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” reports NDTV.
