Edited by Dileep Kumar S

Following an objectionable and derogatory post aimed at Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who was recently named as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, created controversy, Congress leader Supriya Srinate has issued a clarification regarding the incident.

In a statement, Ms Srinate addressed the controversy, stating, “Someone who had access to my meta accounts (FB and Insta) posted an absolutely disgusting and objectionable post, which has been taken down. Anyone who knows me will know I would never say that for a woman.”

Regarding a parody account misusing her name on Twitter (@Supriyaparody), Srinate asserted that it was responsible for instigating the incident and emphasized that she had reported the account.

Responding to the now-deleted post, Kangana Ranaut addressed Srinate directly, emphasizing the importance of respecting women’s dignity and rejecting derogatory language. Kangana stated, “We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudices… every woman deserves her dignity.”

Kangana Ranaut’s nomination as the BJP candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency has sparked discussions and reactions across political spheres, with this incident adding fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding her political involvement.
