Sonitpur Witnesses The Entry Of Premlal Ganju On Congress Ticket

Premlal Ganju has been fielded to represent the Indian National Congress (INC), contesting for the Sonitpur Parliamentary constituency in the Assam 2024 Lok Sabha Election. Currently, Ganju is a state Congress General Secretary, in addition to being a businessman.

Premlal Ganju is affiliated with the Indian National Congress, the 2024 Lok Sabha election marks his political battle for the seat of Sonitpur Constituency. This unprecedented move by Ganju underscores the significance of the election and reflects the determination of the Indian National Congress to secure a strong foothold in the Sonitpur constituency.

Ganju’s decision to file multiple nomination papers is likely to intensify the electoral competition in the region, signaling a spirited contest among political parties vying for representation in the Lok Sabha.

In this 2024 Lok Sabha election he is up against Ranjit Dutta of BJP. This constituency was previously represented by M.G.V.K Banu in the congress ticket, where she secured 441,325 votes but was still defeated by Pallab Lochan Das of BJP who secured 684,166 votes.

The electoral landscape of Sonitpur (previously called Tezpur) Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a 3-way hustle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (AJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Comprising 9 assembly segments, it emerges as a crucial battleground for the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The Sonitpur constituency was represented by the BJP party from 2014, as Ram Prasad Sharma and Pallab Lochan Dhas of BJP won the Lok Sabha election two consecutive times in 2014 and 2019.  In this Lok Sabha election, the battle was declared among the seven candidates of the constituency including BJP, AAP, and Congress.
